CVE-2026-99207

Description

A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's SCSI target subsystem. This issue allows a storage initiator or virtual machine guest to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) through a system deadlock. The vulnerability occurs because the subsystem fails to disable interrupts while holding an internal lock during delayed command processing. When handling ordered storage requests under specific configurations, an interrupt can attempt to acquire the held lock on the same processor, causing the kernel to hang.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.

Availability

Technical Impact: DoS: Resource Consumption (CPU); DoS: Resource Consumption (Other); DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart

Each thread of execution will "hang" and prevent tasks from completing. In some cases, CPU consumption may occur if a lock check occurs in a tight loop.
