CVE-2026-99108
Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's NTFS file system implementation. This flaw may lead to data corruption or data loss when performing file system trim operations (FITRIM) to reclaim unused storage blocks. Due to an improper range alignment calculation when processing unaligned free space extents, discard requests can extend past the free area and into actively allocated clusters. A local user capable of issuing trim requests on an NTFS volume could cause allocated file system data to be overwritten or deleted.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
