CVE-2026-98571

Description

A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's stmmac network driver. This vulnerability can lead to a Denial of Service (DoS) or memory corruption when processing incoming network traffic under resource constraints. When the driver fails to allocate a network packet buffer, it recycles the underlying memory page without clearing its reference pointer. An attacker sending network packets during memory pressure could trigger this condition, causing the driver to reuse the recycled memory page and crash the system.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
