CVE-2026-98473
Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's s390 Virtual Function I/O Adjunct Processor (VFIO-AP) device driver. A local user with administrative privileges can trigger this issue by removing an AP queue from the host configuration while it remains assigned to an active virtual machine. Because the driver does not properly clean up device resources when the hardware is no longer available, pinned memory pages and interrupt registrations are leaked, and subsequent cleanup attempts may cause a double-free condition. This flaw can lead to memory exhaustion, kernel instability, or a Denial of Service (DoS).
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
