CVE-2026-98392

Description

A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Intel Bluetooth PCIe driver. An off-by-one boundary check error in the transmission interrupt handler allows an array index to exceed valid buffer limits. A local attacker could exploit this flaw to crash the system, resulting in a denial of service (DoS), or potentially cause memory corruption.

Statement

This vulnerability is rated as Moderate severity because exploitation requires local system access and is restricted to systems equipped with specific Intel Bluetooth PCIe hardware. Typical Red Hat Enterprise Linux deployments do not include or utilize Bluetooth hardware, significantly limiting exposure. On systems where the hardware is present, an authenticated local user could trigger an out-of-bounds access leading to a kernel crash or unintended memory modification.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
