CVE-2026-98188
Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's p54 wireless driver. An attacker capable of connecting a malicious wireless device could cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by triggering a system crash. This issue occurs because the driver fails to validate data length parameters when reading calibration curve information from device-supplied EEPROM (electrically erasable programmable read-only memory). Consequently, an entry declaring more data than provided results in an out-of-bounds read past the buffer, which may also expose sensitive kernel memory.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
