CVE-2026-97966

Description

A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Marvell OCTEON TX2 network driver. When tearing down Hierarchical Token Bucket (HTB) quality-of-service queues, the driver fails to clear hardware scheduler topology configurations before returning queues to the shared pool. A local user with network configuration privileges can exploit this flaw by resetting traffic control configurations, allowing stale priority settings to persist. This residual state can corrupt subsequent scheduler allocations, potentially leading to improper traffic prioritization or a Denial of Service (DoS).

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.

Technical Impact: Other; Read Application Data; Modify Application Data; DoS: Resource Consumption (Other)

It is possible to overflow the number of temporary files because directories typically have limits on the number of files allowed. This could create a denial of service problem.
