CVE-2026-93841

Description

A flaw was found in vLLM. This memory corruption vulnerability exists in the Triton _bincount_kernel, where prompt token identifiers (IDs) are used to index a bitset without proper bounds checking against the vocabulary size. A remote attacker can exploit this by submitting multimodal audio requests containing tokens equal to the vocabulary size. This leads to out-of-bounds writes, which can corrupt the sampler state of concurrent requests and alter repetition penalty behavior.

Statement

This vulnerability in vLLM is rated as Low impact. It allows attackers to submit specially crafted multimodal audio requests, leading to out-of-bounds writes that corrupt the sampler state of concurrent requests and alter repetition penalty behavior. This issue primarily affects the integrity of the inference process for other users of Red Hat AI Inference Server and Red Hat OpenShift AI.

Mitigation

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
