CVE-2026-93316
Description
A flaw was found in BuildKit. This vulnerability allows an authenticated user to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by crashing the daemon. When the BuildKit daemon is started with Container Device Interface (CDI) support disabled, submitting a build that attempts to use CDI devices triggers an unhandled daemon panic.
Statement
A denial of service flaw was found in BuildKit's device management subsystem when processing Container Device Interface (CDI) configurations. When the BuildKit daemon is explicitly started with CDI disabled via the --cdi-disabled flag, requesting a CDI device during a build triggers an unhandled panic due to an uninitialized device handler. An authenticated user authorized to submit build requests can crash the shared buildkitd daemon process, terminating running tasks and preventing subsequent build operations until the daemon restarts.
Mitigation
Avoid starting the BuildKit daemon with the `--cdi-disabled` flag, or restrict build submission access to trusted users to prevent deliberate or accidental daemon panics.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
