CVE-2026-93159

Description

A flaw was found in the atmel-sha204a cryptographic hardware random number generator (HWRNG) driver in the Linux kernel. When an Inter-Integrated Circuit (I2C) transfer fails, the driver does not properly clear a pointer to allocated work data. This oversight can lead to subsequent read attempts observing stale data, potentially resulting in an information leak where sensitive heap memory contents could be exposed.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.

It is possible to overflow the number of temporary files because directories typically have limits on the number of files allowed. This could create a denial of service problem.
