CVE-2026-93132

Description

A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) implementation for RISC-V architectures. Specifically, the riscv_acpi_add_prt_dep() function contains a loop that incorrectly handles error conditions. This can cause the loop to skip necessary entry pointer updates, leading to improper processing of ACPI entries. Such an issue could potentially result in system instability or unexpected operational behavior.

Statement

This vulnerability is rated as having Low severity because it exclusively impacts systems running on the RISC-V architecture utilizing ACPI table configurations, requiring malformed or unexpected firmware tables during system initialization. The flaw resides in platform-specific interrupt routing logic, meaning standard enterprise architectures such as x86_64, aarch64, s390x, and ppc64le are entirely unaffected. Consequently, the operational risk in standard Red Hat enterprise environments is minimal.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
