CVE-2026-93010
Description
A flaw was found in dnsmasq. When DHCP leasequery is enabled without listing allowed source addresses, the server does not check who sent the query. A host on the local network can request DHCP lease records and learn assigned addresses, MAC addresses, hostnames, and related lease metadata. The feature is off unless an administrator turns it on.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Low because leasequery is opt-in, the unrestricted-source behavior is documented, and lease inventory is not high-sensitivity data (much of it is already visible via ARP and other LAN protocols). Confidentiality impact is Low rather than High. Red Hat default dnsmasq configurations do not enable --leasequery. Current RHEL and RHIVOS packages ship dnsmasq 2.90 or earlier, which do not include the leasequery feature introduced in v2.92.
Mitigation
The following measures reduce risk:
1. Prefer --leasequery=<addr>[/prefix] so only designated relays may query.
2. If leasequery is not needed, do not enable it. It is off by default.
3. If unrestricted leasequery is required, use firewall rules to limit which hosts can send DHCP packets to dnsmasq.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.

Reporter scored 6.5 (C:H). RH scores 4.3 (C:L): leasequery is opt-in and documented, and lease inventory is not high-sensitivity data.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Confidentiality
Technical Impact: Read Application Data; Read Files or Directories
An attacker could read sensitive data, either by reading the data directly from a data store that is not restricted, or by accessing insufficiently-protected, privileged functionality to read the data.
Integrity
Technical Impact: Modify Application Data; Modify Files or Directories
An attacker could modify sensitive data, either by writing the data directly to a data store that is not restricted, or by accessing insufficiently-protected, privileged functionality to write the data.
Access Control
Technical Impact: Gain Privileges or Assume Identity; Bypass Protection Mechanism
An attacker could gain privileges by modifying or reading critical data directly, or by accessing privileged functionality.
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart; DoS: Resource Consumption (CPU); DoS: Resource Consumption (Memory); DoS: Resource Consumption (Other)
An attacker could gain unauthorized access to resources on the system and excessively consume those resources, leading to a denial of service.
