CVE-2026-92936
Description
A flaw was found in vm2. Attacker-supplied code running within a sandbox can force the host-realm source transformer to throw a SyntaxError, for example, by providing malformed source to eval. By reading the error's stack property, the attacker can bypass sandbox-side host-path redaction. This leads to the disclosure of absolute host filesystem paths from vm2, Node.js internals, and the embedding application's own source tree, along with host function names. This is an information disclosure vulnerability.
Statement
Moderate: This information disclosure vulnerability in vm2 allows sandboxed code to leak absolute host filesystem paths. While it does not lead to code execution, an attacker-supplied script within the sandbox can trigger a SyntaxError to expose sensitive path information from vm2, Node.js internals, and the embedding application's source tree, impacting Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform and Red Hat Developer Hub.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
