CVE-2026-92358

Description

A flaw was found in the first broker login flow of Keycloak. When a user confirms an account-linking request from a different browser, a temporary proof is created to validate the link. However, this proof is not properly cleared after the link is established or when the user later manually removes the link. An attacker who controls the external identity can exploit this leftover proof to silently re-establish the link and gain unauthorized access to the victims account without any further confirmation.

Statement

The Red Hat Product Security team has assessed the severity of this vulnerability as Moderate, given that exploitation requires a specific sequence of user actions and must be performed within a short time window before the server-side proof expires. Successful exploitation allows an attacker to silently re-link an external identity to a victims account and gain unauthorized access. The vulnerabilitys root cause is the failure to consume or revoke the cross-session account-link proof upon successful linking or manual unlinking.

Mitigation

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.
