Description

A flaw was found in libextractor. This stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the process_star_office function allows attackers to craft malicious StarOffice documents. When processed, these documents can cause a large allocation on the stack, leading to a stack overflow and crashing any application extracting metadata. This can result in a denial of service.

Mitigation

If the incorrect calculation is used in the context of memory allocation, then the software may create a buffer that is smaller or larger than expected.
