CVE-2026-91137
Description
A flaw was found in Apache Thrift's PHP bindings. A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability by sending specially crafted input containing improperly validated quantity values. This causes the application to perform excessive iterations and consume memory or CPU resources without limits, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Important because unauthenticated remote attackers can trigger severe resource exhaustion and completely disrupt service availability. In deployments utilizing the Thrift PHP protocol accelerator to parse network payloads, an attacker can transmit malformed container structures that induce unbounded execution cycles and excessive memory allocation. Impact is confined to denial of service, with no unauthorized disclosure or alteration of system data.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

Technical Impact: Varies by Context; DoS: Resource Consumption (CPU); Modify Memory; Read Memory
When the quantity is not properly validated, then attackers can specify malicious quantities to cause excessive resource allocation, trigger unexpected failures, enable buffer overflows, etc.
