CVE-2026-90429

Description

A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's iommu/tegra241-cmdqv component. A synchronization issue exists between the error Interrupt Service Routine (ISR) and the Virtual Interrupt Function (VINTF) de-initialization process. A concurrent error could lead to the ISR attempting to access a VINTF that is either being cleared or has already been freed, resulting in a NULL dereference or a use-after-free condition. This memory corruption vulnerability could potentially allow an attacker to cause a denial of service or escalate privileges.

Statement

A race in the Tegra241 CMDQV IOMMU driver can let the error interrupt handler observe a VINTF slot while it is being created or torn down. This can produce a NULL pointer dereference or a use-after-free when the ISR dereferences a VINTF that is NULL, partially initialized, or about to be freed. For the CVSS the PR:L is chosen because reliable triggering requires a local process with access to iommufd or delegated device assignment that can create or destroy user VINTFs. AC:H is used because the bug depends on a timing window between interrupt handling and VINTF lifecycle operations. The issue is not network reachable. Impact is at least local denial of service via kernel crash and in the paranoid case may include confidentiality and integrity impact because the patch context explicitly describes a use-after-free candidate in an interrupt path.

Mitigation

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options don't meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base or stability.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
