CVE-2026-89778
Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's isofs (ISO 9660 file system) component, specifically within the zisofs decompression logic. A local attacker could exploit this vulnerability by mounting a specially crafted ISO9660 image. When a compressed file on such an image contains a malformed 'ZF' Rock Ridge record, it can lead to an out-of-bounds read during block decompression. This issue could result in a system crash, causing a Denial of Service (DoS).
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
