CVE-2026-89671

Description

A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Network File System version 3 (NFSv3) server daemon (nfsd). The nfsd3_proc_setacl() function unconditionally processes Access Control List (ACL) update requests, even when the client's request does not specify an ACL to be set. A remote attacker could exploit this by sending a crafted SETACL request, leading to the unintended removal of a directory's default ACL or both access and default ACLs. This could result in unauthorized changes to file system permissions.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
