CVE-2026-89559
Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's libnvdimm/labels component. An integer overflow vulnerability exists in the __nd_label_validate() function, where a 32-bit calculation of a namespace index field (nslot) can wrap around. This allows a local attacker, or an attacker with control over the storage medium, to provide a specially crafted nslot value. This crafted value can bypass security checks, leading to an out-of-bounds write and potential memory corruption.
Statement

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Integrity
Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands
Write operations could cause memory corruption. In some cases, an adversary can modify control data such as return addresses in order to execute unexpected code.
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart
Attempting to access out-of-range, invalid, or unauthorized memory could cause the product to crash.
Other
Technical Impact: Unexpected State
Subsequent write operations can produce undefined or unexpected results.
