CVE-2026-88982

Description

A flaw was found in Kubeflow Pipelines. The execution cache service generates cache keys without including the Kubernetes namespace, allowing cached data to be accessed across tenant boundaries. In multi-tenant environments sharing the cache service, an authenticated user with workload submission privileges can exploit this issue to access another namespace's cached outputs or inject crafted outputs into subsequent pipeline steps.

Statement

This vulnerability is rated as having a Moderate severity for Red Hat OpenShift AI because exploitation requires authenticated workload submission privileges within a shared multi-tenant cluster and is constrained to workflow step output poisoning or leakage without granting cluster takeover or code execution. The issue specifically affects deployments running legacy Argo-based pipeline definitions that share a centralized execution caching service across distinct namespaces. Modern pipeline v2 components bypass this legacy caching infrastructure, which limits exposure under standard pipeline workloads.

Mitigation

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
