CVE-2026-87744

Description

A flaw was found in Quarkus REST Data Panache. This vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to bypass security controls on generated endpoints. When a developer customizes a specific operation using @MethodProperties without explicitly re-declaring security roles, the code generator silently drops class-level security requirements. This results in the affected endpoint defaulting to permissive, unauthenticated access, potentially leading to unauthorized information disclosure or data modification.

Statement

Important: A flaw in the Quarkus REST Data Panache code generator can lead to unauthenticated access to REST endpoints in applications built with Red Hat Build of Quarkus. This occurs when developers use @MethodProperties to customize an operation without explicitly re-declaring security roles, causing the class-level security annotation to be dropped and the endpoint to default to permissive access.

Mitigation

To mitigate this issue, restrict network access to Quarkus applications utilizing REST Data Panache to trusted networks or localhost. This can be achieved by configuring firewall rules or network access controls to limit exposure of the affected endpoints. A restart of the application may be required for network configuration changes to take effect.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
