CVE-2026-85732

Description

A flaw was found in oras-go, a Go library for managing OCI artifacts. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform blind Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) against internal services by providing a specially crafted Link header URL during pagination operations. Although the response body is not returned, an attacker can infer service reachability through timing differences and potentially obtain credentials. Exploitation requires a victim to perform a pagination-based listing operation against a malicious registry.

Mitigation

Restrict applications utilizing the oras-go library to interact exclusively with trusted OCI registries. Implement network egress filtering to limit outbound connections from systems running oras-go based applications to only known and authorized OCI registry endpoints. This reduces the attack surface by preventing communication with arbitrary external hosts.

By providing URLs to unexpected hosts or ports, attackers can make it appear that the server is sending the request, possibly bypassing access controls such as firewalls that prevent the attackers from accessing the URLs directly. The server can be used as a proxy to conduct port scanning of hosts in internal networks, use other URLs such as that can access documents on the system (using file://), or use other protocols such as gopher:// or tftp://, which may provide greater control over the contents of requests.
