CVE-2026-85471

Description

A flaw was found in Quay. An authenticated repository administrator could bypass the hostname blacklist in webhook notifications, leading to a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability. This allows the Quay application to be tricked into sending requests to internal network resources, such as cloud metadata services or other services within the cluster. Consequently, this could lead to the disclosure of sensitive information from these internal services.

Statement

This vulnerability is classified as Moderate impact for Red Hat Quay because exploitation requires existing administrative privileges on a repository and outbound network interactions are restricted to HTTP POST requests with limited information leakage via error logs. In typical multi-tenant deployments, repository managers can set up automated webhook targets for registry events. Because destination validation lacks IP address resolution checks, an authenticated tenant can target internal cluster services or cloud provider metadata endpoints. However, an attacker cannot supply arbitrary HTTP methods or directly capture full response payloads, containing the overall blast radius.

Mitigation

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
