CVE-2026-85249

Description

A flaw was found in Apache Camel's Tika component. When processing documents, the component maps extracted metadata keys directly to internal message headers without filtering. A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability by submitting a crafted document with manipulated metadata, injecting internal routing headers. This flaw may allow an attacker to alter downstream routing behavior or manipulate where processed files are written.

Statement

This vulnerability is rated as having a Moderate impact because successful exploitation requires integration routes to process untrusted documents via the Camel Tika component and subsequently rely on message headers for sensitive operations. While an external actor can introduce arbitrary metadata keys into the message context, the risk to system integrity is bounded by how downstream endpoints interpret and act on injected header values. Deployments that process only trusted inputs or do not execute dynamic routing based on message headers remain unaffected.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
