CVE-2026-85050
Description
A flaw was found in chromium-browser. An out-of-bounds write vulnerability in WebGL, a web graphics library, in Google Chrome on Android allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code outside of the browser's security sandbox. This can be exploited by enticing a user to visit a specially crafted HTML page.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Important because successful exploitation allows a remote attacker to escape the browser sandbox and execute arbitrary code, though it requires enticing a user to open a malicious web page. Red Hat Enterprise Linux does not distribute Chromium in core base repositories, as packages are only provided via community channels such as EPEL. Consequently, default enterprise installations are not exposed unless community browser packages are explicitly installed.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Integrity
Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands
Write operations could cause memory corruption. In some cases, an adversary can modify control data such as return addresses in order to execute unexpected code.
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart
Attempting to access out-of-range, invalid, or unauthorized memory could cause the product to crash.
Other
Technical Impact: Unexpected State
Subsequent write operations can produce undefined or unexpected results.
