CVE-2026-84725
Description
when EAP runs with -secmgr, the openjdk-orb's JDKBridge honours attacker-supplied CDR codebase URLs during object unmarshalling on :3528, allowing an unauthenticated attacker to load and instantiate arbitrary classes from a remote URL in the server JVM before EJB security interceptors run.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Important because unauthenticated remote attackers can trigger arbitrary class loading within the server JVM before access controls are evaluated. Although the issue requires specific deployment conditions—namely running JBoss EAP under the Java Security Manager with an externally accessible IIOP service—successful exploitation allows remote code execution. Deployments that restrict exposure of the IIOP transport to trusted networks experience significantly reduced risk.
Mitigation
To mitigate this flaw, restrict access to the IIOP service (TCP port 3528) to trusted networks using firewall rules, or disable the IIOP subsystem if CORBA is not required by deployed applications.
To restrict or remove external access to port 3528 using firewalld:
firewall-cmd --permanent --remove-port=3528/tcp
firewall-cmd --reload
Warning: Reloading the firewall configuration may briefly interrupt network traffic. If removing the iiop-openjdk subsystem from the JBoss EAP configuration (standalone.xml or domain.xml), a full server restart is required, causing temporary service downtime.
Caveats: Blocking port 3528 or disabling the IIOP subsystem will prevent legitimate remote clients from communicating over IIOP/CORBA.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.

Confidentiality,Integrity,Availability
Technical Impact: Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands
An attacker could insert malicious functionality into the program by causing the program to download code that the attacker has placed into the untrusted control sphere, such as a malicious web site. This could enable the injection of malware, information exposure by granting excessive privileges or permissions to the untrusted functionality, DOM-based XSS vulnerabilities, stealing user's cookies, open redirect to malware (CWE-601), etc.
