CVE-2026-84659

Description

A flaw was found in the Jenkins Script Security Plugin. This vulnerability allows an attacker to bypass security restrictions by disabling the global script sandbox. By exploiting a missing permission check through Stapler data binding, an attacker can execute arbitrary code, potentially compromising the Jenkins system.

Statement

A missing permission check flaw was found in the Jenkins Script Security Plugin. An authenticated attacker could exploit this vulnerability through Stapler data binding to disable the "Force the use of the sandbox globally in the system" setting. This configuration change weakens Jenkins security controls by allowing scripts to run outside the security sandbox, potentially exposing the system to further attacks. The vulnerability requires authenticated access and affects the plugin's configuration rather than directly enabling code execution.

Mitigation

Update Jenkins Script Security Plugin to version 1415.v9a_f9b_3a_c253d or later, which adds proper permission checks to the data-bound setter controlling the sandbox setting. Review and restrict access to Jenkins to trusted users only.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
