CVE-2026-84657

Description

A flaw was found in Jenkins. The build command-line interface (CLI) does not properly enforce permissions when canceling a build. An attacker with Item/Build permission can exploit this by using the -s flag to cancel builds initiated by other users, leading to unauthorized disruption of ongoing processes.

Statement

A flaw was found in Jenkins. Unauthorized build cancellation is possible via the CLI command due to a missing permission check. Authenticated users with Item/Build permission can cancel builds initiated by other users. This issue affects Jenkins versions up to 2.579 (weekly) and up to 2.568.2 (LTS).

Mitigation

Update to Jenkins 2.580 (weekly) or Jenkins LTS 2.568.3 or later.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
