CVE-2026-84654
Description
A flaw was found in Stapler, a web framework used by Jenkins. This vulnerability allows an attacker, who can submit configuration forms, to modify public static fields of configuration objects. This modification can lead to changes that apply globally across the entire Jenkins instance, potentially impacting its operation and security.
Statement
A flaw of moderate severity was found in the Stapler web framework used by Jenkins. Stapler's form data binding allows setting public static fields of the bound configuration object, so an authenticated attacker who is able to submit configuration forms can modify public static fields of the configuration objects those forms are bound to, resulting in changes that apply globally to the Jenkins instance and potentially impacting its operation and security. Red Hat rated this flaw Moderate (CVSS 5.4, CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:N), consistent with the upstream Jenkins severity, as exploitation requires an attacker with the ability to submit configuration forms and results in limited confidentiality and integrity impact. The Jenkins offerings shipped in OpenShift Developer Tools and Services (ocp-tools-4) are affected, and a fix is being pursued through the delegated upstream maintainers.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
