CVE-2026-84176
Description
A flaw was found in the Apache Camel Platform HTTP Vertx component. Due to an overly permissive Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) configuration, the server reflects incoming request origins while enabling credential access. A remote attacker could exploit this flaw by enticing an authenticated user to visit a malicious website, allowing the attacker to conduct unauthorized cross-origin requests and access sensitive response data.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Moderate severity because successful exploitation depends on victim interaction, requiring an authenticated user to visit an untrusted third-party site while possessing an active session against the Camel service. In Red Hat environments deploying Camel Platform HTTP with Vert.x, leaving CORS origin controls unconfigured results in reflecting arbitrary client origins while granting credentialed access. Because this condition only exposes response data without permitting data modification or denial of service, the risk remains contained.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
