CVE-2026-82029

Description

A flaw was found in Invoice Ninja. An authenticated vendor portal user can gain unauthorized access to documents belonging to other vendors and clients due to improper authorization checks that only validate company-level scope rather than specific vendor ownership. By supplying or enumerating predictable document identifiers on download endpoints, an attacker can access and download sensitive files across the organization, including invoices, contracts, payment receipts, and expense attachments.

Statement

This vulnerability is rated as Moderate because exploitation requires authenticated vendor credentials and is confined to read-only document exposure across the company scope, without enabling arbitrary code execution or service disruption. Furthermore, Invoice Ninja is neither packaged nor distributed in Red Hat Enterprise Linux or other Red Hat offerings. Consequently, supported Red Hat products and default installations are not directly impacted by this flaw.

Mitigation

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)

Access Control

Technical Impact: Bypass Protection Mechanism

Access control checks for specific user data or functionality can be bypassed.

Access Control

Technical Impact: Gain Privileges or Assume Identity

Horizontal escalation of privilege is possible (one user can view/modify information of another user).

Access Control

Technical Impact: Gain Privileges or Assume Identity

Vertical escalation of privilege is possible if the user-controlled key is actually a flag that indicates administrator status, allowing the attacker to gain administrative access.
