CVE-2026-81878

Description

A flaw was found in radare2, a UNIX-like reverse engineering framework. The CPython bytecode (.pyc) marshal parser is vulnerable to an integer overflow. By opening or inspecting a specially crafted .pyc file, an attacker can trigger a heap out-of-bounds write. This can lead to heap memory corruption and denial of service, with the potential for arbitrary code execution.

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)

Integrity

Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands

Write operations could cause memory corruption. In some cases, an adversary can modify control data such as return addresses in order to execute unexpected code.

Availability

Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart

Attempting to access out-of-range, invalid, or unauthorized memory could cause the product to crash.

Other
