CVE-2026-79993

Description

A flaw was found in Apache ZooKeeper. The deleteContainer opcode is processed without verifying Access Control List (ACL) permissions. A remote, unauthenticated attacker with network access to the ZooKeeper client port can delete any empty persistent znode, including container and TTL nodes. This can lead to data integrity issues or denial of service.

Statement

This issue affects Apache ZooKeeper server instances that accept client connections. Red Hat products that ship ZooKeeper may be affected when a server in the vulnerable version range is deployed and reachable on the client port. No authentication is required to exploit this flaw.

Mitigation

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
