CVE-2026-75884

Description

A flaw was found in AWX. The container group pod_spec_override field uses an incomplete blocklist that only restricts automountServiceAccountToken, allowing injection of initContainers, serviceAccountName overrides, and projected service account token volumes. An AAP platform administrator can exploit this to escalate privileges to OpenShift namespace-level access and exfiltrate namespace secrets.

Statement

Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform includes the AWX controller, which contains an incomplete input validation flaw in the container group pod_spec_override field. An AAP platform administrator can exploit this to escalate privileges from the application level to OpenShift namespace-level access, enabling exfiltration of namespace secrets including admin passwords and the database field-encryption key. Containerized (Podman) installs are not affected.

Mitigation

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base or stability.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
