CVE-2026-75508
Description
A flaw was found in graphql-core. The parser's token limit improperly tracks only non-comment tokens while continuing to allocate and retain memory for skipped comments. An unauthenticated remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by submitting a specially crafted, comment-padded GraphQL document to bypass parser limits and exhaust server memory, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as having an Important severity because unauthenticated remote attackers can exhaust application memory and crash worker processes without requiring elevated privileges. In Red Hat environments such as Red Hat OpenShift AI and backend cloud services, applications handling GraphQL queries fail to account for skipped comment structures when enforcing token thresholds. Because standard complexity and depth validation occurs only after document parsing completes, specially formatted requests can cause service denial before internal safeguards take effect.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
