CVE-2026-75421

Description

A flaw was found in aria2. This stack-buffer-underflow vulnerability, located in the IOFile::getLine() function, could allow an attacker to cause a denial of service or potentially execute arbitrary code. The vulnerability arises when the application attempts to write data before the beginning of a buffer on the stack, leading to memory corruption.

Mitigation

To reduce the risk, users should avoid processing untrusted or specially crafted files with aria2. It is recommended to only use aria2 for downloading content from trusted sources.

If the corrupted memory can be effectively controlled, it may be possible to execute arbitrary code. The consequences would only be limited by how the affected data is used, such as an adjacent memory location that is used to specify whether the user has special privileges.
