CVE-2026-72746

Description

A flaw was found in FreeRDP. An unauthenticated remote attacker could bypass the server-side authentication in the RDSTLS (Remote Desktop Services Transport Layer Security) handshake. By sending a Capabilities PDU instead of the expected Authentication Request PDU, the server incorrectly processes the request, leading to a successful authentication without validating any credentials. This allows the attacker to gain unauthorized access to a session.

Statement

This CVE ID has been rejected or withdrawn by its CVE Numbering Authority as it's a duplicate of CVE-2026-73241.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
