CVE-2026-71569
Description
A flaw was found in Apache Camel's A2A component. Due to inconsistent network address validation, a remote attacker can supply a webhook URL that bypasses internal address restrictions. This issue leads to Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF), where the application can be induced to send unauthorized outbound requests to restricted internal services.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as having a Moderate impact because successful exploitation requires specific environmental prerequisites—including resolving names to internal IPv6 unique local space and satisfying TLS handshake requirements—and results only in blind outbound requests. Although the Camel A2A component can be coerced into dispatching push notifications to restricted internal addresses, the server does not relay responses back to the caller, preventing direct data extraction. Systems that restrict push notification registration to authenticated users or that operate in environments where internal IPv6 routing is not utilized face minimal operational risk.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Confidentiality
Technical Impact: Read Application Data
Integrity
Technical Impact: Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands
Access Control
Technical Impact: Bypass Protection Mechanism
By providing URLs to unexpected hosts or ports, attackers can make it appear that the server is sending the request, possibly bypassing access controls such as firewalls that prevent the attackers from accessing the URLs directly. The server can be used as a proxy to conduct port scanning of hosts in internal networks, use other URLs such as that can access documents on the system (using file://), or use other protocols such as gopher:// or tftp://, which may provide greater control over the contents of requests.
