CVE-2026-69806

Description

Exposure of sensitive information to an unauthorized actor in .NET allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally.

Statement

An information exposure flaw of important severity was found in the .NET SDK's dotnet-watch AspireServerService. On Linux, the AspireServerService exposes sensitive information through its process arguments, which are readable via the procfs filesystem, and this exposure can enable injection into the /run_session endpoint. A local attacker with an authorized, low-privileged account could exploit this flaw to elevate privileges on the system, with high attack complexity (CVSS 3.1: 7.0, AV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H). This matches the upstream severity assigned by Microsoft.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, 9, and 10, Red Hat In-Vehicle OS, and Red Hat hardened images based on dotnet10.0 ship affected packages, and fixes are being pursued for these products. Red Hat hardened images based on dotnet9.0 are not affected because the vulnerable code is not present in that variant. Fedora community builds of dotnet9.0 and dotnet10.0 are also affected. The flaw is Linux-specific because it relies on the procfs interface.

Mitigation

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability. Updated .NET packages that contain the upstream fix are being delivered through the appropriate Red Hat product channels; apply them when they become available for your release.

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
