CVE-2026-68354
Description
A flaw was found in the FireWire (IEEE 1394) networking driver in the Linux kernel. The fragmented datagram reassembly logic in fwnet_frag_new() incorrectly handles list edges and merging of adjacent fragments. This can prevent complete datagrams from being recognized, potentially leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) for FireWire network communication.
Statement
This issue affects FireWire networking (IEEE 1394). Fragment reassembly in fwnet_frag_new() mishandles adjacent fragment merging. Systems without FireWire are not affected.
Mitigation
To mitigate this issue, prevent the firewire_net module from loading. See https://access.redhat.com/solutions/41278 for instructions.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
