CVE-2026-68243

Description

A flaw was found in the drm/i915/gem component of the Linux kernel. A local attacker could trigger a NULL dereference by setting a context engine slot to an invalid class and then attempting to apply specific parameters to that slot. This could lead to a system crash, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).

Statement

This issue affects Intel i915 graphics. Setting an invalid engine class then applying I915_CONTEXT_PARAM_SSEU dereferences NULL. Systems without Intel graphics are not affected.

Mitigation

To mitigate this issue, prevent the i915 module from loading. See https://access.redhat.com/solutions/41278 for instructions.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
