CVE-2026-67588
Description
A flaw was found in Apache Qpid ProtonJ2. A remote, unauthenticated attacker could exploit an issue with unbounded symbol value caching. This could lead to resource exhaustion, causing a denial of service (DoS) for legitimate users.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Important severity because an unauthenticated remote entity can trigger unbounded memory allocation prior to session authentication, resulting in complete denial of service through memory exhaustion without requiring elevated privileges. In Red Hat AMQ environments where applications utilize the ProtonJ2 client library to establish AMQP endpoints or handle incoming network traffic, processing crafted symbol data exhausts available heap space. Because the parsing occurs early during protocol frame decoding before authentication mechanisms take effect, any network-accessible endpoint handling untrusted AMQP input remains exposed to service disruption.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
