CVE-2026-67406
Description
A flaw was found in rabbitmq-server. When the Shovel plugin worker process crashes due to network or connection failures, it fails to sanitize its internal state before logging error reports. As a result, sensitive connection details and unencrypted credentials, including plaintext passwords, are written directly to crash dump files and error logs. An unauthorized user with access to these log files can read the credentials, leading to information disclosure and potential unauthorized access to connected message brokers.
Statement
Red Hat products that include rabbitmq-server are not affected by this vulnerability. Red Hat OpenStack Platform 13, 16.2, and 17.1 ship RabbitMQ 3.x, which predates the introduction of this flaw in version 4.0.0. Red Hat OpenStack Platform 18.0 and Red Hat Hardened Images (Hummingbird) ship versions 4.2.9 and 4.3.6 respectively, which already include the fix. This vulnerability requires the Shovel plugin to be configured and active; the flaw is in the Shovel worker's failure to implement the format_status callback, causing plaintext credentials to be written to crash logs during process failures.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Confidentiality
Technical Impact: Read Application Data
Often this will either reveal sensitive information which may be used to launch another, more focused attack or disclose private information stored in the server. For example, an attempt to exploit a path traversal weakness (CWE-22) might yield the full pathname of the installed application. In turn, this could be used to select the proper number of ".." sequences to navigate to the targeted file. An attack using SQL injection (CWE-89) might not initially succeed, but an error message could reveal the malformed query, which would expose query logic and possibly even passwords or other sensitive information used within the query.
