CVE-2026-66039

Description

A flaw was found in FFmpeg. A remote attacker could exploit a signed integer overflow vulnerability in the MACE6 audio decoder by providing a specially crafted CAF (Core Audio Format) file. This malicious file manipulates the bytes_per_packet value, leading to an undersized memory allocation and a heap out-of-bounds write. This vulnerability could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the affected system.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
