CVE-2026-65587
Description
A flaw was found in Graphics DDK. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by enticing a user to visit a web page containing specially crafted WebGPU content. Processing this content triggers an out-of-bounds write in the user-space graphics driver, leading to memory corruption and a potential Denial of Service (DoS) caused by a browser or GPU process crash.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as an Important impact because untrusted remote web content can induce memory corruption or crash render processes without requiring prior system privileges. However, the Imagination Technologies proprietary Graphics DDK driver is not included or supported in Red Hat Enterprise Linux deployments, substantially limiting exposure across enterprise environments. Successful exploitation specifically requires specialized hardware utilizing these proprietary drivers along with user interaction to render untrusted graphics workloads.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Integrity
Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands
Write operations could cause memory corruption. In some cases, an adversary can modify control data such as return addresses in order to execute unexpected code.
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart
Attempting to access out-of-range, invalid, or unauthorized memory could cause the product to crash.
Other
Technical Impact: Unexpected State
Subsequent write operations can produce undefined or unexpected results.
