CVE-2026-63966

Description

A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's adis16550 Industrial Input/Output (IIO) Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) driver. The adis16550_trigger_handler() function fails to fully initialize a stack-allocated data array. This oversight allows uninitialized stack memory to be exposed to userspace, leading to information disclosure with every trigger of the driver.

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)

Confidentiality

Technical Impact: Read Memory; Read Application Data

When reusing a resource such as memory or a program variable, the original contents of that resource may not be cleared before it is sent to an untrusted party.

Availability

Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart

The uninitialized resource may contain values that cause program flow to change in ways that the programmer did not intend.
