CVE-2026-63772
Description
A flaw was found in the Apache Thrift Go bindings. A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability by sending specially crafted requests that trigger excessive resource allocation without proper restrictions. This uncontrolled consumption can exhaust system resources, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS).
Statement
Red Hat rates this vulnerability as having an Important severity impact because an unauthenticated remote attacker can cause a denial of service by sending a single malformed packet to vulnerable Thrift endpoints. In Red Hat environments deploying Go-based observability and telemetry services, exposing Thrift transport listeners to untrusted network traffic allows attackers to crash server processes without prior authentication or privilege requirements. While these crashes disrupt metric and trace ingestion pipelines, the flaw does not facilitate arbitrary code execution or compromise data confidentiality and integrity.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Resource Consumption (CPU); DoS: Resource Consumption (Memory); DoS: Resource Consumption (Other)
When allocating resources without limits, an attacker could prevent other systems, applications, or processes from accessing the same type of resource. It can be easy for an attacker to consume many resources by rapidly making many requests or causing larger resources to be used than is needed.
