CVE-2026-63475
Description
A flaw was found in isomorphic-git. This vulnerability allows a malicious or compromised remote server to cause a persistent Denial of Service (DoS). During a repository clone operation, the server can supply circular symbolic references that the client stores locally without cycle detection. Subsequent commands attempting to resolve these references enter an infinite loop, freezing the application and leaving the repository unusable.
Statement
This flaw is assessed with a Moderate severity impact because triggering the issue requires a user or service to explicitly interact with an untrusted or compromised remote repository, limiting the impact to application availability rather than unauthorized data access or modification. In typical Red Hat deployments utilizing this JavaScript Git library, such as Red Hat Developer Hub, operations usually target authenticated enterprise version control systems rather than arbitrary public endpoints. While an adversary controlling a remote Git endpoint can force affected services into an unresponsive state by returning self-referencing symbolic references, the vulnerability does not allow code execution or data exfiltration.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.

Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Resource Consumption (CPU); DoS: Resource Consumption (Memory); DoS: Amplification
An infinite loop will cause unexpected consumption of resources, such as CPU cycles or memory. The software's operation may slow down, or cause a long time to respond.
