CVE-2026-63446
Description
A flaw was found in Suricata, a network Intrusion Detection System (IDS), Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), and Network Security Monitoring engine. Due to an inverted guard in the AppLayerParserSetTransactionInspectId() function, transactions on flows passed by a pass rule or exception policy are not correctly marked as inspected. This oversight prevents completed transactions from being freed, leading to their repeated rescanning. A remote attacker could exploit this by sending specially crafted network traffic, causing the per-flow list to grow indefinitely, resulting in CPU and memory exhaustion and a Denial of Service (DoS).

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Resource Consumption (Other); DoS: Resource Consumption (Memory); DoS: Resource Consumption (CPU)
An attacker that can influence the allocation of resources that are not properly released could deplete the available resource pool and prevent all other processes from accessing the same type of resource. Frequently-affected resources include memory, CPU, disk space, power or battery, etc.
